Small portable icon "Through the hand of Emm. Tzirtzilaki, 2006"
The image of the Virgin Mary entitled Prousiotissa because the model is the icon of type Odigitria that was painted before 830 AD located at the Monastery of Our Lady Prousiotissa in the Prousso of Euritania.
Standing Holy Mary and Child - temple icon
The perfect balance of color. The flesh, the tunic and the dress coexist harmoniously, creating a striking effect. The secret? There is no secret, it is the art of color. The shades (from lighter to darker), the tons (sometimes intense and sometimes fallen), the transparencies and of course the touches (straight or curved, vertical or horizontal, thin or thick) show the talent of the artist.
Detail from the icon with the standing Holy Mary.
The infant Crist in Her lap, into Her holy hands which are painted according to the rules of hagiography. He blesses with His left hand, while on His right hand He holds a scroll. The supernal light falls (from above) smoothly and uniformly on the face of Christ, on His hands and feet and on the hands of His mother.
Virgin and Child seated on a throne - Τemple's icon of Church of Archangels and St. Constantine and Helen at Leontari
Another unique composition based on that of Theophanes of Cris. This model was chosen because of the limited available space for an enthroned Virgin. So we managed to depict the Virgin with Christ in her arms seated on a throne (which was the desire of the donor), without deforming the figures.
